Riding Information

The Canadian Youth Assembly does not use the traditional 308 riding setup established by Elections Canada, but has combined many ridings in order to better represent youth population and limit fiscal expenditures. The CYA has implemented a 177 riding setup; if you would like more information please see the 'riding information' page.

Our membership was asked to evaluation the electoral system which is employed by Elections Canada throughout federal elections in order to determine whether this would be effective for the CYA. After thorough discussion and research it was established that 177 ridings would be better for our purposes.

The interim board of directors saw the overwhelming support for this initiative and the thorough work which had gone into it and voted unanimously to support it.

A copy of the ridings is provided in the file below (this is a preliminary document, meaning that it is not visually appealing, but the ridings are correct. A new document will be uploaded as soon as possible).

(In order to find your CYA riding, you must first know your official federal riding. Go to the Elections Canada site to look this up if you do not already know.)
