Candidate Information

Candidates for the CYA can be any youth from 14 to 25 (though some restrictions apply) as per our bylaws.

The candidates of the CYA are those individuals who will take it upon themselves to run for election to represent the youth of Canada.

These individuals are not bound by any arbitrary rules; we believe that the youth who make up the CYA are more than capable of determining which system they would prefer. They may enter into and create parties, which will in no way be controlled or unduly influenced by federal or provincial parties and do not necessarily have to reflect any of the current parties.

We have parties which are meant solely to cater to youth and nothing more, parties which are bound only by the ideas of those who have made them and capable of growing into something spectacular.

The candidates of the CYA, when elected will be the primary voice for the youth of Canada. They will regularly meet with and ensure that they are properly representing youth and will work together in order to do so.

Candidates are expected to work together regardless of their beliefs, ideologies and party affiliation (both within and external to the CYA). The CYA has taken steps to ensure that our membership and candidates work together, rather than against one another in order to fully and effectively represent the youth of Canada. They are expected to build their interpersonal and problem-solving skills through bridging between parties, beliefs and ideologies, rather than bonding within them.
